Travelling seems to be now the only thing that everyone wants to do to set their soul free. It’s on everyone’s bucket list. If someone wants a break from their stressful boring mundane life, all they want to do is take a bag and take off to a new place.

We all deserve a break once in a while to revive our passion, feel new places, experience new things, and meet new people. And who doesn’t want a stress free life? Well, it surely resets your life and frees your soul from any stress or burden, and inspires you to fuel your soul’s health.

Traveling is not a synonym for expensive leisure activity or something that needs too much baggage and errands making it a stressful process in itself. That’s why people have come up with travel hacks to help you go through the checklist and make your travel easier and memorable!

Precautionary Hacks

  • Always keep your purse in your pants or bag's front pockets.
  • Never stash all your cash and cards at the same place. Distribute it in 2–3 parts. Losing your wallet won’t pinch you so hard.
  • If you are traveling solo keep posting your family about your location every now and then. In case of emergencies, it helps.
  • Always have your hotel name, address, and phone number written down in a paper or keep the Hotel Cards handy because losing mobile or mobile cracking up while traveling is always a possibility.
  • Don’t forget to download offline maps of your route. Mobile networks might not be working in your favour everywhere.
  • Always have your ID proof and its scanned copy everywhere for security or any practical purposes. Also, do scan your passport, identification card, and itinerary and email them to yourself as they always save you from you-never-know what comes up.
  • Whenever you are traveling outside your country, there is always something like what should a foreigner not do in their country? Do research well before going and surely not do that when you are there. As they say ‘when in Rome, do as Romans do’.

General Hacks

  • Earphones are a must so don’t miss them.
  • Never ever forget to carry a Power Bank. Do have a portable phone charger as it is handy, helpful and more useful & reliable than keeping a charger.
  • Most of the hotels these days have WiFi so do ask for the WiFi password because you paid for it. And don’t think it’s a cheap thing to do. Those body wash and Lotion are the giveaways and exclusively for you.
  • Don’t forget to carry a pair of Slippers or Flip Flops with you. Lest you regret it.
  • Emergency food like pre-packed oatmeal packets, small packs of nuts, biscuits, and water supplies should be always there in your backpack when you are roaming for sightseeing.
  • Marking your bags/ luggage as Fragile will not only ensure your bag to be in a safe condition but also chances are they will come out first and you will save some time.

Packing/ Organising Hacks

  • Instead of piling your clothes in your suitcases, try to roll your clothes as rolling allows you to fit more things in. There are so many videos available teaching you to do smart packing by utilizing each and every nook and how to pack lighter, smarter, and faster.
  • Always take mini bottles for your toiletries and think of organizing hacks like spectacle boxes which are handy for earphones and keeping extra pen drives or storage drives.

Saving Hacks

  • To begin with, don’t pay for water at the airport. They won’t allow a bottle with any liquid in it but if you take an empty bottle/ sipper to the airport, you can surely refill it after you’ve passed through security.
  • We all know most of the places have a steady local transport system and you can install their apps before you start for the place. You will be able to save up to 80℅ if you install the apps and make yourself a little aware of the routes by doing some homework. The autos and local cabs have a higher probability of fleecing you.
  • If traveling in India, check out the Homestays, Oyo, Treebo, Fabhotels for hotel bookings. It is pocket-friendly and has decent amenities.
  • Also, do check other Bed and Breakfast options and websites like Air BnB(Yay !! now in India) who provide lovely clean homes and private rooms for homeowners. These accommodations have a personal feel to them and you can always bargain for some add ons if you are in luck.
  • Don’t think too hard before asking for Discounts in hotels because at max you won’t get any discount but if you ask there is a chance you might save some extra bucks.
  • Always try to eat where locals eat and preferably if you see locals are waiting in queue for their order. It saves a lot of money and looks reliable.
  • Once you reach your destination, before reaching your hotel do shop for groceries basics like water and a few snacks in local stores instead of at the hotel as that can save you a lot of money.
  • Prepare your gifts to be taken and souvenir list beforehand, and stick to it. This will save you money and prevent you from doing impulsive shopping.
  • Before you begin the trip, remember to do some research about the place like free things to do when you are in … There are some days and time when it’s free to visit some popular museums but also remember, if they are free there is bound to be a long queue so time it accordingly.
